Made in the solitude of rural and coastal
Massachusetts, Dayspired comes forth with their
latest work “Rover,” a ghostly and rhythm-heavy affair.
The title track begins with a repeated hang drum
fragment which seems to rise out of the surrounding
fog, lifted by synth flourishes, engulfing vocals, and a
hypnotic bass groove that runs throughout. It would
seem to be a song most fit to be played on a
ghost ship.

“Rover” is followed with the second track on the
EP, “Sometimes You Don’t Sleep,” which is equally
poignant, but with a fiercer drum section and a more
uplifting energy. Light piano improvisations interact
with heavy kick patterns, tightly chopped vocals
weave with arpeggiated synths, culminating into a
driving, and yet deeply personal lofi experience.

Rover EP is a continuation of the duo’s nuanced,
organic, and atmospheric approach to electronic
music, but in a more refined and stripped down
vector. The duo is actively being mentored by
Rhythm Section International founder Bradley
Zero (BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, and Boiler Room),
who has helped them push their sound to new
heights and uncharted territories.
